Kirby Wii - Views and Expectations

Hi there,

As you may know. For years now Nintendo have been saying they are going to release a Kirby game for the Gamecube but that was cancelled and said that  it is now being adapted for the Wii.

The Cancelled Kirby game.
What did come out was Kirby's Epic Yarn. Great game, fun to play in co-op and single player. Though it did lack the classic Kirby gameplay, where you would eat foes and gain abilities, which we know and love. Well I do. It was a simple game and had a significant Kirby Canvas Curse vibe to it.

Beside all that, at E3 2011 they have confirmed a new Kirby game for the Wii (and Kirby: Mass Attack for the DS not 3DS). I've never been to E3 before but it is still waiting on my bucket list. This game has been called Kirby Wii (woo...). Original name I know. Well I'm here to give you my expectations and views on this game.

First of all, name of the game should be changed. It's boring. But I don't mind as long that it's available, I am happy. Kirby 64 had a similar name, though they did add the "Crystal Shards" part. What would be more fitting is "Kirby Wii: The Stary Starship" or something.

STORY:

Okay, I hope this game's story is better than Kirby Squeak Squad. I love that game but the story was funny and styooped but for this game I have a feeling it's gonna be a bit more like Kirby 64. Kirby 64 was rated E for Everyone and included a giant white demon thing with one bloodshot eye, that's bleeding, who possesses Kirby's friends to make them attempt to kill him.

AAAAAAAAAARGH! ZERO TWO!

In Kirby Wii the story line is different (Nah DUH). Okay well at the start of the trailer you can see Kirby running off with a strawberry shortcake (Kirby Squeak Squad) and Dedede and Bandana Dee chasing after him. Kirby stops after seeing a Kirby Amazing Mirror lookin' star appear and a GIANT ship falling out. Hahaha it reminds me of Super Mario Galaxy. Anyway. The story is this: Kirby, King Dedede and Bandana Dee find a spaceship that crash landed onto Dreamland. Kirby somehow decides to help the alien owner/pilot guy to get back to his home planet. To help him Kirby must find the spaceship parts that have been scattered across the land. What a nice guy.

The alien reminds me of a Kingdom Hearts thing,
also Meta Knight somehow gets dragged into this.
This is what I would like to appear in the story. I think that there should be a plot twist and the pilot guy is actually making Kirby retrieve some kind of evil matter, like dark matter or something. And that the pilot guy is possessed by Zero 3 or is disguised as Marx from Milkyway Wishes. That would be pretty cool as Marx is my second favourite archenemy. Also the last boss should be either Marx or Zero 3. Why? 'CAUSE THAT WOULD BE EPIC!!!

And here's the trailer by the way:

GAMEPLAY:

This game has an awesome four player co-op. SHAWEET! This makes the game more fun and enjoyable, though I tend to rage when I play with others 'cause they just don't do things right. You can play as Kirby, King Dedede, Bandana Dee or Meta Night. Though Dedede and Meta Night don't actually differ that much from the copy abilities Hammer and Sword. The only different one is Bandana Dee. I think in the game he's called Waddle Dee, but from Super Star I'm calling him Bandana. Bandana is equipped with a spear and in one gameplay movie he can spin his spear above his head and hover around. If you are playing one player mode you are forced to play as Kirby and others can join at anytime.

Bandana Dee spinning his awesome spear around.
What I would like to see is when you are playing one player that you can switch between characters and that you have to unlock them by defeating them with Kirby in battle. That would be pretty mad, this can also add different puzzles that can only be solved with a certain character, oh yeah, they should add more puzzles like in Amazing Mirror 'cause they were hard at times. Lately Kirby's just a fighting game and I'd like it if there was some puzzle elements to it.

With four players though I'm a little worried that the screen would a little too crowded. Also I'm worried that this game would be too easy with helpers. To fix this maybe if there was a difficulty setting or if, depending on how many people are playing, the bosses have a little more HP. And that when you die or another player dies it affects the amount of lives you have or each player has separate lives. It worked on New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

But what I am really excited for are to try out the new abilities. Current new abilities are Leaf, Water and Whip.

LEAF KIRBY!!!

WHIP KIRBY! Or Indiana Jones Kirby...
WATER KIRBY! Like in the anime!
And the ones which seem epic are the Ultra Abilities. Like Ultra Sword and Ultra Flame. Ultra sword equips Kirby with a HUGE sword which changes every time you use it and can affect your surroundings, as in it cuts things. The Ultra Flame summons a giant dragon made of FIRE and it flys across the burning everything in it's path. These Ultra Abilities do remind me of those one use abilities like Mike and Cook Kirby. Though as I watched various people flailing around the epic sword I noticed a little rainbow bar with a star on it. This symbolizes the amount of times you can use that ability.

HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURRRAAAGH!!!!!
This game has also added items that can be used as weapons. Kinda like Mario but...not. It has a cannon that looks like the cannon from Kirby's Air Ride. Kirby holds this above his head and smashes his enemies to smithereens ARGH!

BAM! DIE BRONTO BURT!
And he also gets a giant boot that has uber pointy spike on the bottom of them and  Kirby just sits inside and bounces around in it.

Pound your foes to pieces with the uber spiky boot! YAY!
This games also included the jumping onto other people's back type thing which has been brought over from the Gamecube prototype.

YAY! Kirby is especially strong!
In the game you inhale things with the button (1) and if you hold down one and shake you can inhale things with more strength I guess. And to remove an ability you press (-) which i found funny. Kirby also appears to have a slight strut when he walks in this game. He's like "Ooh, yeah. Look at me." And you play this game by holding the Wii remote horizontally. Like in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Maybe they'll make it so you can use the other controllers like the classic controller or the Gamecube one.

OM NOM NOM NOM!!!!!
SOUNDTRACK:

I reckon, from the only song that we hear in the trailer, that this game's soundtrack is gonna be awesome! Like Kirby's Epic Yarn, which had a brilliant soundtrack, this one is orchestrated instead of being simple 16 bit tunes like in Super Star Ultra, though that was probably kept for a nostalgic effect. But they kept it like that in Squeak Squad. But in Canvas Curse that made it more technologic.
MY VIEWS:

Personally, I think this game is gonna be totally AWESOME! I mean Kirby hasn't had a console game ever since Air Ride, and you know how that turned out. But I do love Air Ride and I'd like them to do a remake with the ability to choose different characters and unlockable courses like in Mario Kart. That would be awesome. Anyhow, I think this game will be great though I am a bit skeptical about how crowded it's going to be with four players. Also PUZZLES! Putting all that aside I think this game will be awesome and will hopefully increase the size of the fandom and allow people really get into it. I'M SO EXCITED!!!

Well I guess that wraps this up. As you can tell I am very excited for this game. And if this text it in Times New Roman I am sorry because I hate that font. Stay tuned for more news on this game and when i eventually buy it I will hopefully do a Let's Play of it. But don't think that it's going to happen... 8(

Well I guess this is goodbye, no see ya later. If you got any ideas of anything that should be added or if you just hate my ideas pleases do tell by Shlogging me. As in commenting. And did anybody else notice that Kirby swims differently now?
Thankyou, I am tired. And GOOD NIGHT!!!
